i have put my darkness down
not in order to be freed
but because it does not need
to be carried
my shadow is with me
and it will follow
and it will lead
and it will shrink
and it will bleed
in edges unfolding and retracting and furling
in forms rigid, abstracted and curling
so i have no more need
to heave, hoist or heed
a shadow’s weight
that is without any need
of being toted or towed
when i remain in the light
i have no heavy load
