somewhere there’s a me
that unzips the skin from my chest
releasing the bats and the birds
from their nests
freeing to flight
what’s been kept out of sight
but has fluttered inside me
each day and each night
somewhere there’s a me
that abandons the flesh
and leaps into life
as if it were fresh

For years, I used to imagine myself unzipping my fluffy, lumpy body and stepping out of it in my sleek lean spirited image. I was always naked and on a zebra crossing/street crossing path… do with that what you will!
Another wonderful insight into inner feelings that sometimes yearn to be heard or seen.
