there is a tiny puppy
that lives inside my soul
it yelps at me to feed it
and clanks upon its bowl
it leaps at open doors
and doors that i have closed
it woofs
and wants
to be set free
it nudges with its nose
it whines when it is unseen
it tugs and nips and bites
it’s always waiting to be walked
and welcomes in the light
